This breed looks like someone made a short legged Briard. But really, these guys are what remains of two particular breeds, the other being the Clydesdale Terrier(also known as the Paisley), which a stud of was the founding sire of the Yorkshire Terrier.

This makes me think of the show Connections. Which is AWESOME...and old. So find dvds of it if you can. >.>,,
