Warrowwick Domestic Bots Concepts 2
I made the mistake of not leading with this when initially posted to Patreon some months ago, (Yes, I know...too long! I swear I'm not dragging ass to do public posts to try and generate more Patreon memberships. I just...kinda hate doing clerical work, and public post always take a back seat to anything else I can spend my energy on before it tapers off for the day.) of posting this after a previous post that needed context from this. Well, not much context...just that the Auto-Chef cupboard appears in the backdrop.
So yeah, more concept work pertaining to commission work being paid out by my DM Doctor Portal to flesh out our little Dungeons and Dragons world. Expanding the whole 'Retro 50s Magic Space Age Punk' world as we play with our group. Naturally automatons are a big part of this era of the setting, with the return of magic some 50 years prior allowing for leaps and bounds to be made technologically thanks to meshing magic and tech together. Still I aimed to make all the robots look...very robotic. Very clunky, very machine, with only hints of humanization...or I guess 'Animalization' on top of that 50s futurism vibe.
A lot of the conceptual design tenets for these revolved around picking a retro appliance as a basis and building off of it. Usually picking one dominating device, and making everything else you could possibly need be an attachment for the units.
The expansion and near finalization of the Nannydroid is featured here. I ultimately ended up leaning more feline for the 'Homewrecker'. I think the head still needs work. But the body, meshing her with that 50s streamlined car design was a primo idea. It also allowed for the 'trunk' joke to be literal. Opening her rump hatch gives access to her vacuum bag, as well as general storage space. Perfect for attachments, carrying groceries, or even kids sometimes...
Last is a simple typewriter auto stenographer with encyclopedia and grammatical modules. Lucius isn't a big fan of having too many robots in the house. It's something he's begrudgingly accepted with the times (Like me and touch screens). But this gift from his Honey Pie was one he's come to deem as useful. The unit itself is a platform with a desk lamp head module and two robot arms that run any typewriter you place into the platform. It doesn't communicate by speaking English, instead largely with beeps and chirps. Outfitted with the data from the dictionary, a full encyclopedia, a thesaurus, and various other literary data to allow for the most efficient and up to date editing, this bad boy is a juggernaut when it comes to aiding the budding writer. Data Modules can be brought to any Tesla distributor to be updated regularly for free.
