march 31 supposedly was "trans day of visibility," and as it usually goes with named days I did not know there was one or that it was coming, and so was unprepared.
I also do not know if i properly qualify as "trans" but i absolutely have trans-like issues via preferring ambiguity, on account of not believing that i would be accepted as a full trans person, which a good many people and systems who don't know me [and a few who sadly do believe that they know me would] still scorn me for, and i also hate to be seen, perhaps in large part due to those issues, so here comes this
on further reflection it isn't all that different from this idea except i spent less time drawing it and no longer use a bathroom with other people's toothbrushes in it. that picture is PROBABLY in this account SOMEWHERE but if so i failed to label it in such a way that it can be found deliberately.

I want my work to be visible, my physical biological presence less so. But I drew this willingly! What feels like a forced pageant (somewhat related to this topic) is when the local Big Y grocery store demands that i take a "selfie" including my face just to use the self-check out program after two years of using it faceless without issue, or worse when the federal government demands that choose F or M to renew my passport after THREE years of not demanding that, with threat of physical abuse and detainment if i choose the one they don't like even though it has no impact on how I use an airplane. Groceries thankfully I can still obtain without participating in that.
Ew, I can't stand self checkouts. If I'm taking all of the trouble to actually leave the house and go to a store, I want the full experience of being rung up by a human cashier. I don't get much interaction otherwise, and I think a certain amount is necessary to maintain mental health.

I should say, it is a scan as you shop sort of thing. I can put something in a bag as soon as i find it, and also make sure that the label price is actually in the system; frustratingly often it is not! Possibly more frustrating, the most the store will, or at least ever seems able to do in that event is give the correct price to anyone who reports it. only being able to scan afterward saves very little time. it may even take extra time in extra shoddy stores like Shop Rite that demand all items be put in certain places at certain times. Fortunately Shop Rite is lacking enough in merit or proximity generally that I rarely end up there.
