Any magic is just sufficiently advanced technology or however that statement goes is a statement that some people believe but Caleb, he couldn't care less about any of that nonsense. Magically enchanting items is where Caleb truly shines.
Caleb likes to tinker pure and simple. Give him an issue he needs to solve and he will chip away at a problem until he finds a solution either magical or mundane but more often both.
He's created many items for both himself, his assignments, and his pseudo partner in crime Tedd; ranging from his personal bag of holding to literally iron hands he uses when he's in, as Tedd puts it, "Frankenstein Mode" and handling the more dangerous aspects of forging items. One of the items Caleb has been most proud of making/ sunk the most time into seemingly looks like a simple kitchen knife with some runes carved onto the back of the blade. However, upon taking the blade to flesh its magical properties revealed. With a simple swipe, it can cleanly remove parts from a person without all the blood and pain. He's lost a pinkie testing it and has no idea where it went but he can still feel it
This does help with one long term goal he has to create prosthetic limbs for people in need that work just as well as the limbs they once had.
The previously mentioned partner in crime/ fellow apprentice Tedd is often the counter and balance to Caleb. More into curses and the more esoteric magical aspects, Tedd is often the one who helps Caleb find the weirder lore and thanks to the curses he's worked into himself, a test subject much to Caleb's annoyance but having a test subject who's two steps away from clayface does, infact, help. While Caleb helps keep Tedd grounded and from going too far down the magical path and actually becoming clayface.
And as a side note, the duo is banned from the state of New Jersey for reasons that may involve inadvertently causing the crash of the Hindenburg.
