BY MY OWN ORDER - MH Wilds early review [SPOILER]
ho - ly - shit
game of the year. there, i said it. you might not agree with me but i wont play anything else for months.
i finished the highrank story two days ago and am now in the endgame grind.
i love this game, i love almost everything in it... whoof. buuuuut a review must cover all aspects, shall we?
by the time of me writing this i have spend 72+ hours playing it on Ps5.
the fights are all fun, the monster designs are as detailed and as amazin gas can be, and the combat feels very fluid. each and every weapon only got better compared to previous games. the story? oh boy, the story.... this is a spoiler review so dont complain lol.
the story, by order of the guild.
monster hunter and story are often a easy meal. only since world they started to really build and form coherent, big storys, a big narrative beyond "go fight monster". in wilds it evolved even further.....
almost every character has a moment to shine or move the story forward.
Characters
Gemma: the flagship waifu of the game, the big eyecatch, shes great. shes a very "big sister" kind of character, and her taking the lead and fixing things within the story was awesome to watch.
Alma: our handler for this game, a HUGE improvement compared to world. shes sweet, helpful, does her job properly... and she had a few really funny moments.
Nata: at first i thought "ew, child" but he grew on me. you actually could get into his situation, his feelings, and see him grow during the journey. by the end i didnt mind him.
Astrum unit: bundling them up in one thing to save time... olivia is actually crush-worthy. she was a character i didnt expect to like as much... the rest of the team was okay, erik being a adorable nerd, werner being.... werner.... anyway i digress...
Your palico: this time around the palico is a real character, one with the interactions and the new voice acting, you even do sidequests for your palico. he feels helpful, and like a true companion..
Seikret: the seikret is a addition to the game i do not want to miss.. its great and if i had to nitpick, id wish for more customizable options
Your hunter: never in the history of MH was the hunter more badass. now able to speak they hit the balance of giving him enough dialogue to be a character, but not to flesh him out to much so you can still self insert and "roleplay".
since i am dum and dunno how to end a review, here are positives and negatives...
Positives:
fluid combat, voice acting, top notch music, great story..
negatives:
Grafics: i personally had NO hiccups, bugs or glitches on base ps5, however its no secret that some pc players have problems... what i dont get is that there are also many pc players that have NO troubles... what could be the reason? meh, i just know whatever troubles there are, capcom is working on it.
Multiplayer: as much as i love the game, the multiplayer kind of sucks. its no problem once your in a loby and playing with your friends, but first time connecting is a hassle with huntr ID's, lobbys, invites and whatgives... its the first crossplay MH, i bet there are better ways to handle this, maybe theyll patch it up...
Difficulty: not really a negative but people ngged about difficlty.... i dont see a problem. i did have a few carts during my playtime, and im a veteran... and by the time endgame rolls around the monsters do get fairly challenging. we should be cautious about complaining about difficulty... capcom listens. we dont need another alatreon/fatalis oneshot bullshit...
thats it from my end, i give this game a 10/10, if you have questions, feel free to ask in the comments

I always look at big game releases with regards to their PC versions and how much care they put into them (especially since all the recent consoles use a lot of PC components), but I'm happy you're finding so much enjoyment on the PS5 port! It's a pleasure seeing others thrilled by their interests and openly expressing them, so even if I never play this myself, I'm genuinely excited for you too!
May you get lots more of that fun for a long time to come!

I think it depends on what your running
Like i know that some people with AMD GPUs have had difficulties with it
and one of my friends couldn't play the beta at all but they are able to play the game now that its out (the optimizations they did really helped i guess)
Some times computers are just weird... like i just got a program working that wasn't before but i had to delete it and then redownload it twice to get it to work and now its fine

I kinda wish that whenever someone had such an issue they'd mention their system specs, so both players and devs could notice what the patterns are in the problems. Like, is it a driver issue? A particular vendor's hardware, be it CPU, GPU or motherboard? How much RAM do they have? Stuff like that. As for the port thing, yeah, I get it, just swap the words I used around because I didn't wanna repeat.. :P
Is there a particular game you think would be good to introduce someone to the series? Not asking for the "best" one, but something that is good at teaching you how these games work and all. It's like how even though it has the lamest villain team and a relatively low difficulty curve, I think Pokemon X & Y are the best titles in that franchise for new and returning players, as it does precisely that and has a massive amount to collect and explore, without being overly complex or requiring meta knowledge..
Anywho, neat art as always and again wish ya all the best in your adventures! ^^

every monster hunter game is standalone. means you can start wherever... however id suggest starting like many did with world. you can start with wilds no prob, but world is the first "new gen" kinda game. the controls and all are overhauled compared to old gen games, wich were slower, clunkyer
