The forest folk are so little known to outsiders that some consider them malevolent spirits of the trees, and others terrifying fighters that keep any outsiders out of their woods. Few know the simple truth, which is that to themselves they're simply 'the people', as they consider themselves the most worthy of such a name. They live in communal settlements around ancient trees, and largely in harmony with nature, almost only coming out of their woods to make strange foreigners stop fighting amongst themselves with tricks and pranks. To the foreigners these tricks and pranks present as horrific curses, and usually to stop them they'll immediately cease hostilities and send tributes to the edge of the woods, in the hopes to be left alone for the foreseeable future. Occasionally more adventurous individuals will venture to travel outside the woods, picking many souvenirs for their eventual return, and to the many other peoples of the world, such an individual is a sought after retainer, who can only be kept around by showering them with gifts. That is, until they get bored and venture on, regardless of any offerings. Apart from that, the life of the forest folk is quite serene, as between themselves they have little conflict, instead choosing to focus on arts, crafts, and music. However, do not take this for weakness, as the moment their woods are encroached upon, they will muster terrifying forces to strike down the intruder, the whole forest seemingly coming alive to protect itself!
