When it comes to computers, a Desktop is considered old after 4 years if it hasn't been upgraded at any point. It's even shorter for Laptops at 3 years. Older than those ages then they get to become "fossils"

Why are you complaining about rapid technological advances? Do you realsie that this rapid evoloution in technology, faster than any before in history has made our lives so much better? We can do things that were impossible before.
Example: More and more powerful computers mean we can forecast the weather more and more accurately, as our mathematical models can be more complex and accurate to nature.
Also, we can simulate more and more complex protein folding, and this is essential to the development of new medicines and cancer treatments as we can understand how the body's proteins behave when they interact with the drugs.
There are countless benefits that the exponential advancement of computer technology have created. You have to be extremely ignorant to not appreciate the advancements in technology we have

I do but...eh what's the point only the developed countries have something from it right away we get the table scraps if theres any left =_= Also thoose computers that forcast the weather and all that that is fine I'm saying the regular computers for normal people should SLOW DOWN. Or at the very least be compatible with the previous models, becouse this is exacly how the impirialists make money D< And another thing! This Windows Word is the biggest bullshit I've ever seen! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OPEN OFFICE? The owners of Microsoft deliberatly make it seem as if Open Office doesen't exist but in reality it's all free unlike with Word witch you have to buy first D<

Also, the latest computers becoming faster and faster means computers that are good enough for YOU or any other consumer who isn't interested in the fastest computer on the market become cheaper, since the producers come up with a doubly fast computer every year, your level of computing becomes cheaper since most people will move on the the faster machines. So be thankful for extremely rapid progress in computing power becase it also benefits you, even if you aren't interested in the best computers.
And to an extent they are quite backwards compatible. Most programs still run with Windows XP, which is 10 years old! That is DINOSAUR age in computer terms. And sometimes trying to make it compatible to the oldest systems, since so few people use it, is just not worth it for the company, either that or the older systems just can't handle the new stuff.
Open Office are free to advertise themselves, it's just Microsoft Office is the most known, and most people already know how to use it so it's convenient for them. There are many alternatives if you don't want it, even web-based ones where you don't have to install it, like Google Docs.

I just don't understand why people want to develop themselves all the time *yaawn* Why can't everybody just be as laidback as me =w= Yesh yesh, I know they have to keep going faste and faster~ But I don't know how you cal call the XP a dinasour that is seriously crossing the line the XP simply isn't 7 and everybody knows Vista sucks =.= So basicly the 7 is only one step further and hopla, suddenly the XP is already old to you =w= The only good progress 7 has brough is for instance the good security for instance the old XP was stupid in that matter becouse if a program tried to break in it could without a problem the XP didn't ask you at all XD While the 7 does ask you very thoroughly it shurts and stops every process going on at present and asks you if you want this program from this and this supplyer to be installed or not etc. Cept that I'm used to XP becouse my father didn't want to instal Vista becouse he knew it sucked and instead when the time was right installed 7 right away so I had XP for a long time and this laptop I am using at present also runns on a primitive version of the XP and I like it very much XP. Yeah I know Word is well known, true that they are free to advertise themselves but Microsoft did all what was in theyre power and all that was even legal to make them look as a crummy new startup program that isn't usefull D< No comment on that. Oh btw my father got an iPad from the hall o.o Seems preety interesting but it's not for me...

We develop to make our lives better, it's a fundamental of human nature. XP isn't exactly a dinosaur, becuase it has been upgraded by service packs over the years. The Original XP is a dinosaur, but Windows XP Service Pack 3 is modern and a very fine system. And yes Vista is atrocious!
And with Microsoft I hardly call their operating systems "improvements," Microsoft's software department are full of idiots, Mac OS X is a much better, innovative and secure operating system

Don't you f*cking start with Asus again that is the WORST....COMPUTER....COMPANY...EVER D< Already theyre designs are bad, and some of them break easy becouse of that...just very stupid and unpractical. My father fworks as an 'Informatik' in the Celje Town hall witch is full of high class idiots aswell, but his job is to inform the whole staff about how computers are used properly (since some don't even understand that you have to UPDATE your windows media player once in a while >_____>) and also fix them if they are broken. Configuring them from the start is also his job. And he said confiuring an Asus computer is the biggest cluster fuck EVER. I'm not sure about the details but once I came into the kitchen and he said ''This comp needs two times longer for something to load than a HP or Dell. And I'm not even sure if it will work at all.'' Yep I'm not an 'Informatik' myself and don't know things well enough to call myself one but I trust my father fully on this and I dare to say if he can supply a whole hall of morrons and allmost literaly 'keep's it going' then I think he may know a LITTLE more about computers than you and me D< Have you acctualy configured an Asus?
