6 Gauge ? That is a small cannon at a bore of 23mm's. If he was using slugs instead of shot, it would have blown right through them.

I don't know enough about guns to be certain one way or the other but I'm guessing the reason why he used shot instead of slugs is because of the spread he has a better chance of hitting just in case. On top of that if they weren't wearing the heavy vest it might have killed him anyway

Little bit of information for shotguns the lower the gauge the scarier. i wouldn't be surprised if theres a 2 Gauge and that can punch through light-medium tank armor depending on the shell. So yeah thats good armor and he's probably lucky he didn't use buck shot.

The interesting thing is that there actually is a modern 6ga shotgun; the Russian KS23. I've fired some very stout firearms(.45-70, .50AE, .500 S&W, etc), and I'm not sure I'd want to put lead downrange with one of those. :P

First to all the readers and followers, this is a fantasy story and not to take seriously so stop trying to correct him..... Now there's a fact that there was a 4 gauge vehicle mounted shotgun made for clearing the brushes in Vietnam and other jungle terrain..... Before that they had double barreled rifles in that caliber used for elephants and rinos......

I've seen 2 gauge shotguns on Youtube. Even these guys couldn't fire that beast. Fired a 1 lb lead ball.

Unclear whether or not he was damaging the gun or just taking it apart. The bit in mid air makes me suspect he damaged it. Can't say "broke", that works with normal disassembly.

I would have searched the body for shells and kept that gun, not broken it. Especially if they're just going in. It's not like they DON'T intend to kill a few fools; might as well bring the best gear they can get a handle on.

No time to search for more ammo: Hauling an unloaded heavy cannon around is stupid. And they don't want to leave a weapon like that behind them, where it may be picked up and used by an enemy.
