I made these for my lady on Valentine's Day. It's doesn't have to be expensive if you play your cards and chocolates right. This is less a recipe and more just a little hack I experimented with for Valentine's Day on some Lindt Lindor truffles and a skull ice mold.
What You'll Need:
-1 small skull shaped ice mold. You can really only get them around Halloween in stores, but I'm sure Amazon sells them year round.
-1 bag of Lindt Lindor truffles. Any flavor.
-melting chocolate. What kind? Whatever you can get your hands on. Hershey's, See's, Ghiradelli, etc. whatever flavor, although it's best to get the same color as the truffles. I intentionally combined a different color just to show what it would look like.
-1 microwave safe bowl/cup
Step 1:
-Start by adding a handful of melting chocolates to your bowl/mug and microwaving them on high for 1 minute at a time.
Step 2:
-Remove from microwave, stir, and place back in the microwave for another minute. Repeat these 2 steps until your chocolate has completely melted and is very liquidy.
Step 3:
-Pour an equal amount of melted chocolate into the face side of your mold until full.
Step 4:
-unwrap 4 Lindor truffles and place them in the opposite end of the mold (back of the skull) and combine the molds. If the mold is the correct size, it should hold the truffles in place so they won't fall out when combining the molds faces. With the mold face up, it should have a hole on top where you would usually pour the water. Make sure to push down on it so the truffle presses in.
Step 5:
-Place the mold into the freezer for at least 30 minutes to an hour. If everything went right then you should have 4 fully formed chocolate skulls.
I'd like to state for the record that yes I know ALL American chocolates tastes like crap. I've eaten REAL chocolate from other countries so I understand. Some other fun things to try for this would be to add flavor enhancers such as chopped nuts or even sprinkles. I especially like how I used a limited edition strawberries and cream truffle, so it looks like there's still a brain in the skull after biting into it. If anyone else attempts this, let me know how they turned out! Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day! <3
