Drac was formerly a human turned Vampire Bat Mutant really leaning in on the Vampire inspiration. In his former life he was the son of a mafia boss and the second heir to their organized crime gang known as the Amata-Ryu (The Head Clan). The Amata-Ryu used to be part of the Japanese Yakuza but diverged and established their own independent organization in America and parts of Europe. They adopted the appearance and tactics of traditional feudal era Japanese Ninjas as sort of brand to make them unique among other organized crime syndicates and as an advantage. Ninjas are historically particularly good at not being seen or caught. If they are seen then Western Media has doubled down the impression that people should be scared of a group of Ninja and good luck getting the authorities to take you seriously if you claim to have seen real Ninjas. If they are caught then they are taught that it's better to die with honor and leave no remains to protect the clan or allow them to gain any information from you or your body.

Growing up in the Amata-Ryu he was really liked by many the member as opposed to his older brother. They both individually were serious about the clan but as opposed to his brother's strict elitism, Drac cared about the individual members of the clan, and dedicated his efforts to being a good medic and a generally kind person. It was however said kind heart that his father never really consider him to have any potential to be leader by anyone due to this as he would not have the heart to do the crime necessary to keep their clan running, but after his brother when missing and his father stepped down from his position of power, Drac needed to step up as leader.

After he got mutated by Gen Corp, he thought things were normal until he noticed how hungry he was even while eating plenty of meat like the other Amata-ryu mutant. During his first fight as leader against some thugs, biting one of them he realized he been hungering for blood. This lead him to slashing the rest of them down to be able to drink their blood to finally fill his hunger. After he settled down from his blood frenzy, he realized what he did and was horrify since he worried if he would hurt his clan if he came back to them. This is when The Witch came in and told Drac how she can teach him a new trick that can make sure his hunger would never target those who he view as family and never have to worry or think twice about the people he drain dried as he would only see those outside the Amata-ryu as either clients or bloodbags.

This Witch introduced Drac to the concept of Dark Magic. Dark Magic is born of Sacrifice; the willingness to give up a part of yourself that is important to you forever in exchange for power. For Drac he sacrificed his connection to humanity, any feeling he once had for being a human or empathy for humans is gone allowing him to be ruthless in his line of work. Only Mutants are his own kind now and he has issued that all of the Amata-Ryu should accept Mutations, but since he was willing to sacrafice one part of his heart for power...what will stop him from being able to sacrafice another until he has no heart left.
