Commissioned by Royce Day

It has been a long journey for this series. In the later half of 2024, my ol’ buddy Royce contacted me to commission a book-cover for his latest writing. This quickly evolved into a collaboration which ended in a Kickstarter campaign to upgrade the book into an illustrated edition.

We aimed to unlock an image for each chapter (16 total) with a base starting point of 5 images.

We may have only made base goal at the end, but the quality I poured into each image was… honestly? Some of my best and proudest traditional ink work.

Each of these was sketched digitally, printed, then re-traced and given a traditional glow-up. (Trust me, the digital sketch is rough and crusty compared to the final product)

Today, I finished the last line for the double page spread which includes a total of 10 characters. 8 of which were OCs in the style of a “Your Character Here” slot. (The last two are the book’s main Protagonists, of course)

So to celebrate my ending this long journey, and labor of love, I share with you tonight the image for chapter 16.
