Another OC of mine, the Sa-Qilin (Pure/original in one of the tongues in the background lore for him) Mage QÌ Ér (Orphan/Foundling in that same tongue).
He's a "Pure" version of the Na-Qilin we see dead under Tir’Nal's talons in the picture here https://www.furaffinity.net/view/58847422/.
Done by https://www.furaffinity.net/user/maralmok/, thank you for bringing him to life!
Lore;
No one, especially him, is quite sure why his species is so rare compared to their "brother" species the Na-Qilin (Corrupted/Tainted/Fallen in their tongue), the theories amongst those who are actually aware that there is two versions of Qilin is that something in the past left a magical scar on the species, causing the overwhelming majority of Qilin Fawn to be of the Na, with a exceedingly rare few being born as Sa.
This has caused much suffering and grief from his birth until now, for the Na-Qilin are aggressive, Feral Beasts with command of magics that leave devastation were they go, are difficult to drive off, even harder to kill, and are extremely resistant to being tamed, and those who will note his differences in body and coloration and not attack on sight fewer still.
Having been found beside his dead Dam near death by a curious Mage investigating the sight of a battle and raised by him, he is well educated in the magics of the so called "Civilized Races" that walk on two legs.
As a "Enlightened Beast", the term used by the majority of the two legged races for Sapient Magic wielders who resemble the Beasts of the wild, he has made it one of his life's goals to learn the magics of all the sapient species he can, be they walk on two legs or four in a attempt to solve the mystery of his origins, and especially why the Qilin, once all Sa like him in the ancient past, have fallen from a race respected for being Guardians of the less magically gifted to rampaging monsters in search of food, mates, and mana rich territory.
Those that do hold off on attacking on sight will find a calm, determined fellow who desires nothing more than knowledge and a quiet place to study, and who is more than willing to trade the strength of his body and the power of his command of magic to assist, and over the years has built up a group of friends and contacts, from the peasants and criminals of society all the way to the Nobles and Mages at the pinnacle of society.
In body, he resembles a mixture of Great Cat and a Stag-Deer, with his forefeet being that of a great cat and his hind a mix of hoof and padded paw;for QÌ Ér this is a mix of Tiger and Caribou, with the scaling of one of the Dragon-Kin. He has been persecuted by those who mistrust all predatory looking Enlightened, but if one was willing to share a meal with him, they would find he is far more wishing to enjoy a good salad or pasta than meats.
Over the decades, he has had the scaling on his body inscribed and inlaid with various metals, whilst his antlers bear runic magics carved into them by a trusted friend, a symbol of his utmost trust in her to lay his head in her hands and let her wield knife and drill on the source of his magics when he does drop and regrow his antlers.
If QÌ Ér trusts you, you will find he is a powerful guardian against your foes... and may the gods help you if you anger him, for he is the wrath incarnate of his fallen race.
