Commission for Alec Foisy on Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:by.....iej7k4iqpap7os - character designs for a hypothetical film, Larry the Moose, commissioned by the Alaskan government to celebrate the state's recent inclusion into the US in the 1950s 🏔️

The basic premise involves a young anthropomorphic moose named Larry, who is dating a beautiful deer named Dodie. They're planning a trip to Hawaii when Dodie is kidnapped by a reptilian monster named King Fireweed (inspired by The Monster of Partridge Creek) who plans on marrying her himself. Larry has to go on a journey across the Alaskan wilderness along with some friends to rescue her.

My friend pictures it being directed by Ward Kimball and animated by Toei in a geometric style similar to Mary Blair or Cartoon Saloon with songs by the Sherman Brothers before they joined Disney. As per the customer's wishes, I tried to emulate Mary Blair's style (she produced art for many of the Walt Disney Company's films in the 40s and 50s) - I don't usually do 'art style emulation' commissions but I'm very proud of how I've done with the designs and the colours.💗
