He thinks it's the key to getting his 9th tail and becoming a true kami, at which point even Vetra probably wouldn't scratch him. He becomes one of Omin's Offspring, with no physical body, and he'd pack a wallop. Kyuubi no kitsune have been seriously overused in modern media because they are what most modern audiences think when they hear "kitsune." But they used to be far, far rarer - and they were at the apex of their power.
Then the gloves would come off.
Then the gloves would come off.
He's corrupt and evil. He has no honor. He wants the power without the responsibility. And he treats all lives he sees as "lesser" as disposable guinea pigs, including members of his own clan.
Such beings always have a fall. Only question is what will bring about his.
You aren't being contrarian. You struck the red hot core of the problem. Suzucon-sama has all the power of a follower of Inari but acts as a Nogitsune. Such a being is not suffered to live by the gods forever.

When the BBEG says, "Kanpeki. Arigato," it means NOTHING good.
A commenter on his site called Suzocon-sama a Mary Sue. No, he's just a Nogitsune very high on their power scale. They are REALLY not fun opponents, be it in the original folklore or in the Virmerse. They don't play nice, this one has zero sense of honor, and while he has weaknesses, they're gonna be very very hard to take advantage of. They were in trouble the moment they showed up on his island.

It's a bit early for it to end, yeah, but this does have the flavor of the BBEGs finally getting their fight on. You KNOW if Suzocon destroys those guards, Vetra herself is going to show up eventually. She doesn't particularly care about the lives of her Ave slaves, but the guards are a whole other ball of hornets, and he also has Saida-hime. Killing her royal guards is an act of war, nevermind holding her daughter hostage, and I'd think she will come out fighting.
