”Deep within the Heart of the forest, so deep that a man might never find his way back out, a witch makes her dominion. It is said that from the Heart of the forest was birthed magic, countless years ago. The steady beat of the Heart can still be heard, if you but know how to listen. It echoes through the rivers and the streams; its music can be heard as a faint whisper on the wind, as a crashing roar in a storm; as a comforting presence felt in a dream. The Heart of the forest is not a place for mortal men, it is a place where magic still lingers, sleeping peacefully, waiting to return to the world one day. But here is where the witch calls her home; a lone dreamer in a sleeping world.
While the world around her sleeps, the witch stands vigil over the Heart; its rhythm growing more faint with each passing year; reality slipping more and more into the world of the dream. One day the dream may become so deep that there is no waking, and magic will be lost to the world forever. Whether she is simply a caretaker, or the dream is of her making, it is said that the dream follows her, like a clinging morning mist. She can take many shapes, her form nebulous; like a dream itself. Any man that beholds her will feel the allure of the dream call to them; a reprieve from the weariness of the world. And from that dream, they may never wake. The Heart of the forest is not a place for mortal men.”
