TRANSCRIPT

I found a large crater, and what looked like a drop pod of some kind at the center. It was mangled and crushed, so given the crater, I would guess a fatal malfunction. And given the stage of decomposition of the user, this has been here for some weeks now.

Regardless, I looked further to see if there was anything of use. The occupants helmet was damaged beyond all repair, but it did have some data logs stored within. And when trying to fidget with those, my watch activated. Turns out it has a data-reader and could extract the logs. Strange that I never realized it had some greater functionality than just a watch. Still, I should see if this one doesn't also have a tracker on it. Guess I'll add that to my list for when I get to the Well.

Anyways, the logs extracted held some interesting info. So, it turns out this drop pod came from orbit by the 'Eltyrian Empire' and was destined to land by some undisclosed location. So, I guess it being here only reinforces the idea of some critical failure. Now, this original destination is not too far off my path to the Well. I think if it's not some death trap I'd be walking into, then it may be worth a look.

Still, I'm trying to wrap my head around this 'Eltyrian Empire'. I remember seeing this empire on that C3 data sheet. Also, STEEL equipment always looked big and angular. This was slim and round. Or at least it would've been before the crash.

So it seems there are other entities other than STEEL at play here. How this empire is acquainted with STEEL, I don't know. But the occupant of this pod was geared for a fight, so I should be cautious of anything related to this empire. Especially wearing STEEL gear.

And if spaceships are a thing, are there other habitable planets out there? Are they all like Sol, or are we just left to rot? But then why are both STEEL and this empire here? Gave myself a damn headache.
