Vulver: Well. Fennrer Valkodlak was not, as you know him today. Not at all. He left Uvena Prime as a packless stray on a starship as a stowaway, for to find true freedom in this galaxy. - His hopes were crushed quite soon... - He was and stayed a solo type, didn´t care for any laws and he simply took, whatever he wanted. - And he was´nt picky in his methods to obtain his goals...

Given the isolationist nature of the Shistavanen, few outsiders ever visiting except for merchants and relatively few Shistaven leaving the Uvena system I imagine the galaxy likely seemed mysterious and full of wonder for Fennrer with what little he might have heard. Given the reputation of Shistavanen, the way they're often reacted to with fear particularly by humans easy for hopes to be crushed and already having been a loner, doing what he had to do to get by and the predatory instincts and hot blooded nature of a Shistavanen, easy enough to slip into becoming what they saw him as if he'd been rebuffed often enough.
Keen senses, the skills used for hunting, a quiet stealthy tread, adeptness at climbing, all useful for criminal activities and maybe he'd rely mainly on intimidation at first, though violence does come easily and more so over time, not being overly afraid to shed blood and mercy and compassion not something easily afforded and easily dimmed and only getting rekindled much later on. Survival of the fittest after all and easy to go feral when you've not got an anchor or a guiding light.
That's how I imagine it would be with Fennrer and he certainly looks at his most savage here, a thug rather than a scoundrel, though ultimately just surviving and we do know through Raksha and later Voolvif he manages to turn himself around.
