Another old peice done for a poetry contest.
This is the first poem I wrote for the first round. It along with the second poem got me fourth place out of 23 participants.
It is a little on the dark side but I didn't have a good day when i wrote this. (Isnt that a common high school experience eh?)
Highschool work, 05-06
What we see now is what we shall see forever
As I look out onto the sea of faces.
Those I know.
Those I know in passing.
Those I know from job's only.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
I cannot help but think 'what's the point?'
Someday we will all be gone.
Someday someone will look back and see nothing.
Nothing.
Because nothing is the true winner.
The one thing left standing at the end of it all.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
There is no higher plane.
There is no salvation.
This is what we will have for the rest of our pointless lives.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
Only what you do now counts.
Nothing else.
If you spend your life in constant fear.
You can never live.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
Life is run by turmoil and strife.
The universe is spun by conflict.
Be that the conflict between each of us.
Or the constant galactic battle for space in the grand scheme of things.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
This life is all you have.
You cant live in fear.
You can't live trying to know everything.
The rules of life are being broken and reforged constantly.
You can't fix them, you can only hope they last as long as you are here.
What we see now is what we shall see forever.
Enjoy your life while you can.
Because you never know when it will be snuffed out.
Like so many specks of light in the sky.
Or like so much waste on our tiny planet.
Brushed away to make room for the future.
Yet what is this future?
Ask yourself that while you walk the road of life.
Ask yourself before its to late.
Ask yourself before you too are snuffed out.
