Rip-off Rabbit

Hey gang, another story! There was this realtor, see? He figured that since he was now a rich person, he should fulfill his life time ambition and become an animation baron. He wanted to make films with a rabbit that looked suspiciously like another cartoon rabbit. A few friends of mine had done some work on this project, so I thought it was safe to work for the guy. It wasn't. I timed, layed-out, animated, and cleaned-up one minute of very full animation, about six weeks worth of work. Not only did the check bounce, but I also had to pay several courier bills because he'd given me a fake fed-ex account number. It was an ugly scene. I was never able to collect.
I found this drawing in a folder with the bum check and the fed-ex bills. It's the only drawing I have from the project.

how many frames per sec, 24?
35mm film runs at 90 feet per second at 16 frames per foot. That's 1,440 frames. There isn't actually a new drawing on every frame, but in this case it was still about 900 animation drawings, plus the layout drawings plus the exposure sheets.
warner bros would have for sure, regarding the rabbit
i had to do a mascot one time, those people wanted several changes till my design fitted their wishes.
i told them that's that Dogmatix from the Asterix comics and that they would definitely get sued for a lot of monies.
(After that, they went for an ugly, little, green scotch terrier type i had doodled in ten minutes just to fill the portfolio -_-)
still got paid though
unfortunately that wasn't the only occurrence where people absolutely thought, that they came up with a great design of their own, absolutely not influenced by famous rabbits, mice or dogs
Sounds almost like a certain housing contractor about a decade later - two people with similar ideas and business ethics, that's almost scary!
Yeah, the second guy you talked about. He was in Wisconsin, wasn't he? And the other Disney artist is already here, isn't he? Named Grant?
I know him VERY well.
Watching you is one of the best things I ever did on this site, MKaz.
This company, it wouldn't happen to be called "Miracle Homes," would it?
