Yeah... y'all were probably expecting this.

A while ago, a couple of people asked on both Tumblr and BlueSky why Mr Butoi wanted to go home despite nearly getting butchered on the farm he used to call home. Well, simply put, Mr Butoi ended up leaving behind his mother and brothers who probably would end up meeting the fate he nearly avoided. Sure, he now is free to live his own life, but the idea of the family he cares for paying the price for his freedom scares him to death. Even doubly so when his new life involves him being isekai'd to the world of spirits ala Spirited Away.

So imagine his horror when he is given a chance to briefly return to the farm as a spirit, and thus can't interact with the physical world, only to return on the literal day his mother is going to be slaughtered! Naturally, he tries everything he can to save her and; hey, remember how I said that as a resident of the spirit world he can no longer interact with the physical world? Yeah, he attempts are fruitless as he is basically forced to see his mother get killed right in front of her and is powerless to stop it. In a heartbroken rage, he tries to attack the farmers for their crime, but all that happens is him phasing through them. His worst nightmare playing in front of him, Butoi can only howl in anger and sadness as he mourns for the mother who sacrificed everything for her son.

Also, this is considered the halfway point of his story! Hoo boy, hope Butoi is ready for the bullshit that is the Qwertyuioppas Multiverse!
