Commission by Carnival: Well, that didn't go as expected...
So,
carnival's theme this month was 'Pumkin'tober', basically going heavily into the 'gourd' theme. And as so often happens, my brain went through a bit of free-association...
So, there's an idea about 'milk-fed pumpkins'... like a number of people, I first read about this in one of the Little House on the Prairie books, where it was mentioned as a trick for getting prize-winning big pumpkins. (Based on checking up on things, my understanding is that yes, it actually works... it's just that we have a lot better fertilizers that can be used for this than milk these days.)
Which led to me thinking of Lirianna the alchemist unicorn trying this, and not really thinking in advance about the possible side effects of using magical milk for this... she heals quickly, is immune to poisons, and is a summoned creature so would probably just go back if 'killed' anyway, so her attitude towards danger tends to be rather casual, and her experiments do get a little explosive or messy pretty often. In this case, resulting in semi-sapient pumpkins and vines tying her up, possibly trying to get more of the milk...
Carni absolutely loved the idea when I bounced it off them, and here we have the result, a unicorn discovering that perhaps her latest experiment wasn't her best idea ever... and it doesn't help that whoever finds her first is probably going to be too busy watching to help much.
