This is one of a series of pictures I'm going to upload of some of my firearms collection. I'm only uploading those that have a historical background.
~About THIS firearm~
-This was inherited from my grandfather when he passed away. (grandfather on my fathers side)
-This is a Colt Police Positive Special that shoots .38 special only.
-I belive this has been in our family for a few generations
-My dad did a little research on it from the serial number and found it was manufactured sometime in the early 1920's.
-I have not fired this at all. I'm not sure if we are going to because it's old and can be considered a family herloom.
-In this picture I have the cylinder open and have three .38 special loaded so you can see, with three more to the left next to the grip.
-I think this is the 4in. barrel version
~About the firearm~
-The Colt Police Possitive Special was introduced in 1908. It was made primarily to sell to law enforment agencies.
-Supposedly it was very popular and over 750,000 were built.
-The Special model (seen here) is basically an improvement to Colt's Police Positive revolvers by changes to be able to fire more powerful cartriges.
-If you watch movies such as "The Untouchables" or similar TV shows, chances are you will see this revolver since they were popular at the time.
-My understanding is they are fairly accurate.

XD the funny thing is, that's what my friends say as well. The plan is to come to my house, stock up and wait a few days with the food here and see what happens. Then make our way to "Kevin's" gun store, which has every stinking thing you'd ever need. Then go to the Walmart in town that's in the same parking lot as Cosco's. Chances are we will build a zipline to the stores. (yea this is what happens when you have a friend who thinks of these things, and about 2 hours of bordom at school) HAha
^_^ Old 38 revolvers. God they're beautiful. Though just by preference alone I'm much more of a "Smith" fan I'm always scared that the ungaurded ejector gets caught or breaks on something, atleast with a Smith you got that sinky little thing that is infront of it, BUT REGARDLESS. Colts are still wonderful guns .
I think you "should" shoot it, maybe not very often, just to you knwo enjoy it. Life is too short to not to you know? Then clean it so it's still in good condition for a future generation, but it's up to you :)
