It took me some time, but here’s my new drawing for Orctober. This time for day 23, “Cleric”.
Within the orcish societies of Ogmos, there are several classes of religious or spiritual spell casters, which might be called “clerics” in some settings (especially Dungeon & Dragon). Among those classes are the Moon-Seers, dedicated to the Moon Goddess Mungaz (whose name mean “Pale-Eye” in Common Zagrok/Orcish). She’s also a goddess of rest, dreams, divination and death, as a guardian of the “resting halls” in the afterlife.
However, in many city-states (except in the north), as the worship of Zundag (the sun god) became more and more central to religion, Mungaz has been demonized as an antagonistic who use the night to fight Zundag and weaken the Orcs. Many Orcs in smaller communities and in the north see those negative stories about Mungaz as apocryphal slender, and instead worship her as a positive influence on the Orcs’ lives, and a part of the divine balance. A balance some Orcs that call themselves “enlightened” seem to have lost…
The character depicted here is Zorrunn (meaning “Dream’s Shadow”), a Moon-Seer who have been banished from the city she used to call home. Now, she travel the roads, offering her services to those who would accept her. Such services include divination, burials and helping people find rest and peace of mind. Either by making them soporific potions, or by entering the dream realm to help them fight their nightmares.
Compassionate and knowing what it’s like to be wronged by society, she’s generous and eager to help marginalized folks. As such, her fees are proportionate to someone’s fortune. There has been time when she refused to get any payment, not wanting to burden the poorest with even more poverty. Lately, she has started travelling northward.

A black and white drawing by Aëdell Dreamleaf made in October 2024. It depicts an Orc woman casting a magical spell with both her hands, which materialized as a crescent shaped glyph with a circle in the middle. She is tall and muscular, her long hair worn into a bun hold up with two hair sticks, leaving bangs and some strands of her in front. She’s smiling and looking down, with a peaceful expression on her eyes, freckles covering her face. She wears warm clothes: a long tunic with shorth sleeves ornated with wave-like patterns on the sleeves and collar, worn over a top with long baggy sleeves. She has cloth armbands wrapped up around both her forearms, and a shawl tied around her waist. She wear several piercings, one oh her lower lip and three on her ear. She also wears one earring with a shape reminiscent of a moon crescent, and a ring around the middle finger of her hand in the foreground of this piece.
