This is one of a series of pictures I'm going to upload of some of my firearms collection. I'm only uploading those that have a historical background.
~About THIS firearm~
-This is my Bereta model 92F
-This was inherited from my grandfather when he passed away. We are not sure exactally when he purchased it. (grandfather on my fathers side) I'm not even sure why he bought this....
-This is chambered in 9mm Parabellum [means (If you seek peace, prepare)"for War"]
-Am glad I have this because it's my first and only automatic pistol, and it's one that is fairly expensive to purchase.
-This photo shows one of the clips (this clip is an aftermarket one, we have 3 Beretta clips) with rounds loaded, a few 9mm rounds to the left, and in the far left can be seen part of the leg holster.
~About the firearm~
-The Beretta 92 was designed in 1972 and production of many variants in different calibers continues today.
-This replaced the U.S. military's side arm, the famous Colt M1911, in 1985.
-In the military this is known as the M9.
-The 'F' means that is the model series that was sent for U.S. Government testing.
-The 92F has the reputation of being very accurate. I have not fired mine enough to confirm that, but from what I have shot of it, it seems to comply.
If you wish to see this gun being fired, check out my youtube video here:

Parabellum doesn't mean "for war". it's latin and its origins is the following proverb: "Si vis pacem, para bellum". It's origins are unknown but generally speaking it was the doctrine of the Roman Empire since ever. Correct translation without any literary suplement would be: If you wish peace, prepare war.
If you desire to know the year it was built, I suggest you contact Beretta directly. They can provide you with the details given that the serial number never changed or got over engraved by minor/major repairs. But try the italian site, not the US-site.
