Some people are uncomfortable with the idea that humans belong to the same class of animals as cats and cows and raccoons. They're like the people who become successful and then don't want to be reminded of the old neighborhood.
- Phil Donahue
The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.
- Schopenhauer
It ill becomes us to invoke in our daily prayers the blessings of God, the Compassionate, if we in turn will not practice elementary compassion towards our fellow creatures.
- Mohandas Gandhi
If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons.
- C.S. Lewis
If a group of beings from another planet were to land on Earth - beings who considered themselves as superior to you as you feel yourself to be to other animals - would you concede them the rights over you that you assume over other animals?

Its all about choice. We all need to eat in order to live. With the correct balance diet you can live quiet well with out meat, but hey some of us like meat. I my self enjoy meat but I do not condone the mistreatment of animals its sad how we must go about killing them. There is just simply to many dam people on this planet to do it in a sense able manor. We have to raise animals so quick and kill them so fast and do it in a way that makes a profit... If only eating could be eating and not a profitable product where the greed to reduce the bottom line over shadows the rights of the animals.
We are all part of the great circle of life. There is all parts of the food chain some are on top. I am sure if animals where smarter lets say wolves would raise Deer, bunnies and other prey and slaughterer them in the millions if the could.
If aliens came to earth and sought to raise us food and to work for them then that is just they way it would be. We would fight back and the strongest would come out on top its just the way nature is, but when some thing grows out of hand like the human race then things become very unbalanced.
Any ways I will shut up now.

It should, however, be noted that a tiger fears no more remorse for killing a man or a deer than we would for killing a cow. The matter is always in intent and the practice, I think, given that humans are omivores, and can survive in many, if not most, environments. The desire to create a society that does not consume meat, in my opinion, is as dangerous and ultimately pointless as convincing a bear to choose lettuce over a steak all of the time.
That being said, I think we need to eat a lot less meat, and consider where it comes from, and how it is prepared for our consumption. These topics alone, I think, will convince people that truly desire to be vegetarian to stop eating meat faster than any legislative or philosophical campaign.
