I wanted to draw something more experimental. In the last landscape drawing I talked about the city of Nagoretsk and how it housed large amounts of titanium miners working around the mountain's edge. Zemidar-2 is one such mountain complex. I've tried to draw more 'internal views' of buildings such as the smelter and the stacker. All of these are still very crude and I'll aim to better my understanding of drawing building internals with upcoming drawings. I also wanted to do more mountain practice, cloud practice and try a different technique for grass. Landscapes in general is something I've come to enjoy drawing more of. I'll continue putting such drawings in the mix with my more regular ones.
As always enjoy!
As with Nagoretsk, I've written a bit of lore to go with this:
Zemidar-2 is part of a mining operation stationed 20 kilometers north of Nagoretsk. It opened 50 years ago, starting as an excavation site for titanium ore and slowly incorporating a smelter and molder into the production line. The ore is transported from the mining lines, using trucks, to an automated conveyor which feeds ore to the smelter in regular intervals. The molten metal flows though reinforced ceramic pipes and is pushed inside special molds. The whole package is then cooled using a bath of LN vapor and then sorted in piles to be made ready for transport.
A group of 300 miners, technicians and administrators work at the complex. The two complexes, Zemidar-1 and Zemidar-2, are owned by Lesopat ZemnoExtractor, one of the bigger mining corporations in the region. The mine also has several storage and sorting facilities, a cafeteria and a small landing pad for helicopters and freight hovers.
