I recently discovered this character from Japan who seems to be rather popular there but is pretty obscure here. His name can be translated as 'Q-taro the Ghost' or 'Q the Spook', though he's more specifically an obake, which is like a ghost but is not strictly the spirit of a dead person. He debuted in 1964 and is actually the inspiration for the Pac-man ghosts and Q-taro's creators would also create Doraemon in 1971
He also had a game on the NES in 1985 which was localised for international audiences as 'Chubby Cherub'
I went for a different art style here than what I usually do, mostly because I didn't think he'd look right in my main one. I actually drew 2 different sprites of him before this and they both looked pretty bad lol. I think I might experiment more with this retro look in the future though uvu
Image Description: NES-inspired pixel art of Obake no Q-taro (in English: Q the Spook or Q-taro the Ghost), a Japanese manga character which a penguin-like design, his body covered by a white sheet with two large eyes, three hairs, short hands, a large pink mouth, and paws under his cloak. There are sylised and simplistic clouds, fences, roads, and shops in the background. The original size is 48 by 48 pixels.
