I've been working on the next device for the Black Zone. Here are the parts that I have been modeling for the past month or so.
First image shows the padded blocks that will be moveable and will support the back/head of the subject.
Second image shows the pistons I made and rigged along with the assemblies that will hold them. As shown in the top left, each of these parts will go on two large steel tubes so that they can be moved up and down for larger subjects.
Third image shows the motors and power. AC motors in the top left will convert electrical power to rotational mechanical power. The things in the bottom middle are hydraulic pumps that attach directly to the motors. They convert the rotational mechanical power to linear hydraulic power.
On the right are hydraulic actuators. They convert the linear hydraulic power back into high torque rotational mechanical power, for operating the arm restraint platforms.
I'm still putting this all together. When I started I found out a lot of parts were interfering with each other or simply too big/small. I had to redesign and adjust some of the parts to make it work. I still might want to redesign the thing shown in the middle of the 2nd picture: Its a cradle that holds the pistons that hold up the back/neck pistons allowing them to pivot on their axles at the base, but this approach takes up too much vertical space since the whole thing will have to move and rotate up and down. I'm probably just going to redesign the object shown below it to move the pivot point to be in line with the tubes holding everything up.
