There seems to be a plot unfolding involving the ancestors of Bryce Sorensen. And a discussion with a frequent reader and commenter got me thinking about the Ur-Bryce. This story popped in my head all at once.

It features a bit more "sorcery" than Outside Context usually has, but I can account for that in three possible ways:

1. I've never expressly forbade magic. Science and magic could very well coexist.
2. Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and sufficiently advanced technology goes back a long way in this world.
3. This is Victor remembering what happened well after the fact, after his journeys caused him to start mixing up memory and experience.

In any event, since there is no artwork, it is not canon. You decide.
