For all intensive purposes, well bred = bred for structure, temperament, ability to do a job.. not Karen’s little white dog breeding operation in her attic down the road “because Luna deserves to experience motherhood”.
A well bred litter is always under contract. They are legally required to be returned if the owner cannot take care of them FOR ANY REASON. It is super rare that a well bred dog make it into a shelter, because of this, and when it does happen it’s..always a fight it seems to get them back where they’re supposed to be. (Because the shelter didn’t sign the contract and isn’t legally bound by it. It’s sucky but that’s sadly how it is.)

i absolutely love this stance, the dogs in the shelters (at least here and everywhere in the US ive looked) are mixed "designer breeds" from backyard breeders or pitbulls that the average person has no business owning. never purebred working dogs! never show-quality dogs! people dont breed or buy multi-thousand dollar dogs just to dump them in shelters!
