Welcome back to another Gun Day Sunday! The 200th Gun Day Sunday in fact! And for this, I have something truly special (to me at least). My first gun build project. I present to y'all my homemade AKS-74UN in 5.56! This build was a blast and was truly the highlight of my summer. Waiting for the parts to arrive, getting the tools, going through the motions, getting brother pointers, and anticipating for the next build! I hope you guys like it despite not being fully finished (Some of the rivets are still in the white).

Yes! A Tula bakelite mag. But I replaced the follower with a modified one to feed 5.56. Is it reliable? Most of the time. It's mostly just for looks. Haha! Though I have 15 other 5.56 mags that are tremendously reliable that I use when actually shooting it.
223 in a 5.45 mag?
Always mildly amused how AR guys are all about their anti-tilt followers, where AK guys will cut that geometry off their followers, to keep the base of the cartridge pushed up against the feed lips
Wonder when someone's gonna make a proper sidefolder trunnion native triangle brace. I'd get one of the SB ones but that pic rail hinge just doesn't do it for me at all.
ETA: hah, had a few tabs open, mag was already discussed, lol
