Pixel animation - Link Digger

Years ago I worked for a company called Davidson & Associates (later to become Knowledge Adventure) and I worked on a bunch of children's educational software titles where I animated characters in pixel style. It was my first job out of college and I loved the opportunity to do work that was related to the video game art style that I'd loved for so many years. The fact that the games were for elementary school children or below (for awhile I worked on a project that was aimed at infants which I termed as "droolware") didn't bother me at all. Most of the work I did was forgettable but some of the work I enjoyed enough to modify and keep as animated .gif files outside of the native sprite format. These pieces aren't anything fantastic, but I thought folks might find them interesting enough to share here.
This piece started off as a clickable item from a hide and seek game for a Captain Kangaroo title. I had it in mind that I could use the animation as a graphic for my website so I added in the little "links to other sites" bit.
The critter is a... squirrel? A ferret? Neither makes much sense in context since they're not burrowing animals, but nevermind that...
