I believe I did this when Sonic Mania released. Saw Sonic Knuckles and Tails get into the game and wished Amy, who is also a retro character from that era could also somehow be included as an actual playable character. While she didn't get in that game, she did become playable in an old school format in a later game that even gave her own Super Form, which did make me happy.
