Be creative. Applying to be a bartender? Post pictures of drinks you have made. Selling real estate? Map out where you have helped buy and sell homes in your area. Do what you can to show them your talent!

Yup! When I was working in the restaurant, I got hired for a sous chef position coming from a pizza shop just because I had dozens of pictures of making food at home, detailing my learning experiences and whatnot.
It isn't all necessarily about direct work experience, but what you actually know how to do and being able to show that you know how to do it. I feel like that's something people tend to overlook.
