Princess Sweetie Peach was with her royal retinue at the Castle of Balance when Sweetie Peach's horn started glowing and she heard her father Brightstar calling from her horn. He demanded that she and her friends meet him at the throne room. Sweetie Peach and her friends arrived at the throne room where King Brightstar sat on his throne with piles of paperwork.


Brightstar: I've called you all here for a favour. Reports have come in that a Red Dragon has apparently been causing mount Oblivion to erupt in the shadow ponies territory of Balancia. The Shadow Ponies are calling for the dragon's head. I don't want to assume the dragon is causing this, but I can't deal with the problem because of my royal duties. Could you check it out for me? I trust you'll make the right call should the dragon be guilty.


Sweetie Peach: Me? Why me?


Brightstar: Only a royal pony of Balancia can stop the Shadow Ponies from harming a creature who may be innocent. Me and your mother are busy with our royal duties right now and your sister is too young. I'll understand if you refuse, but then I'll have no choice but to let the Shadow Ponies slay the dragon without knowing if it's responsible for the eruption. Another reason why I've picked you is that it is said that there was a dragon living on that volcano who was a friend of our ancestor Princess Alexandria.


Sweetie Peach: The first Princess of Light? And y'all believe that dragon is the same dragon?


Brightstar: It is highly possible.


Sweetie Peach: Well ah wouldn't want an innocent creature hurt and if the dragon isn't responsible for the eruption then we may be harming an innocent creature. Ah will do it father.


Sweetie Peach and her friends took an airship to Mount Oblivion. Lilith took control of the airship and flew it at top speed. She found herself feeling disappointed by how slow the airship was while Sweetie Peach and the others held on for their lives. They soon reached Mount Oblivion and made a rough landing on top of the mountain.


Flora: Lilith! You shouldn't fly that fast! You could have gotten us killed!


Lilith: But I didn't. I'm getting better at piloting the airship.


Wild Buster: Ground! Oh how I missed you.


Lilith: Everyponies a critic. I got us here and fast didn't I?


Sweetie Peach: According ta history this used ta be a Shadow Pony mining facility since the mountain despite being a deadly volcano, contained many gems which made the risk worth it for ancient Shadow Ponies at the time. The entrance should be close by.


Sweetie Peach and her friends made their way to the entrance of the volcano mines and entered. Sweetie Peach and her friends then encountered the dragon.


Flora: That's not a red dragon. It's a ruby dragon.


Sweetie Peach: What's a ruby dragon?


Flora: They look like red dragons, but their scales are made of magical rubies. Don't worry Sweetie Peach, ruby dragons are kind and gentle.


Ruby Dragon: PONIES! I WILL REDUCE YOU ALL TO ASHES!!!


The ruby dragon then shot it's fire breath at Sweetie Peach and her friends, luckily Flora put up her shield spell, blocking the attack.


Lilith: So much for gentle. So princess, how are we gonna deal with this?


Sweetie Peach: Dragon, we don't mean y'all any harm. We were just wondering what's causing the mountain ta erupt.


The ruby dragon shot another fire breath at Sweetie Peach, but she put up a magical shield. The ruby dragon kept blasting at Sweetie Peach. Nightbane started chanting magical words, casting a slow spell, while Wild Buster cast a spell to increase Nightbane's magic which slowed the dragon down allowing Sweetie Peach enough time to escape.


Sweetie Peach flew up and then she spotted a dragon egg.


Sweetie Peach: So that's why this Ruby Dragon is acting aggressive. She's protecting her baby.


Nightbane: Then what's causing the volcano to erupt?


Lilith: Whatever it is, we better find out before that spell stops slowing the dragon down.


Sweetie Peach: Ruby Dragons have power over lava itself. I'll have to try and reason with her. The rest of you just get to safety.


Flora: Sweetie, No! She'll hurt you! It's our duty to protect you.


Lilith: Sweetie does have a point, but I don't know about you guys, but I'm not leaving her.


Nightbane: A paladin abandons nopony.


Wild Buster: Hooray we're all gonna die together. (sarcasm)


Flora: Oh great so now we're gonna try reasoning with a protective mother dragon that wants to reduce us to ashes to protect her baby. Why can't we go on normal royal escort missions or something?


Wild Buster: Because that would be boring.


Flora: Sounds good to me. I like boring escort missions.


The Ruby Dragon was able to move at normal speed again and looked down at Sweetie Peach and her friends.


Ruby Dragon: Keep away from my baby!!!


Sweetie Peach: Please we're not here ta hurt your baby. We've come here ta find out what was making the volcano erupt. Mah father says that a dragon once lived here who was friends with mah ancestor Princess Alexandria....


Ruby Dragon: Alexandria?


The Ruby Dragon paused and took a closer look at Sweetie Peach.


Ruby Dragon: You truly are her descendant. You look so much like her. Alexandria saved me during the war with Kaeon or as he became known as Lord Chaos. In turn I helped her create the Guardians of Light by putting her light into some of my ruby scales that I gave to her. The most powerful of which I put on her crown.


Sweetie Peach: The crown of Knowledge? The same crown that ah use as the Guardian of Knowledge.


Ruby Dragon: I am sorry I attacked you. If I knew you were a descendent of my old friend, I would have trusted you from the very beginning. My name is Nova and the volcano is not erupting. I am merely summoning the lava flow up to help my baby hatch. The rest of the lava I will consume as food, like all ruby dragons. Your ancestor saved my kind from extinction and because of that I will always be grateful to her and her family.


Sweetie Peach: So there was never any danger, but if y'all know mah ancestor then what took y'all so long to raise a baby.


Nova: This little one is not my first. I have raised many over the centuries and they all have their own families. However I would appreciate it if the Shadow Ponies didn't invade our privacy.


Sweetie Peach: Ah can help y'all with that with a royal decree.


Wild Buster: It's true. Shadow Ponies always obey the royal families orders and because Sweetie Peach brought back Balancia she's considered a great heroine to the kingdom.


Nova: Thank you. Live in peace, my friends.


Sweetie Peach: Thank y'all too Nova and goodbye.


Sweetie Peach and her friends left the mountain and went back to the Castle of Balance to give her father the good news.
