FiFi at EAA 2024
The Boeing B-29 Superfortess , Fifi was at EAA Oshkosh. Fifi is one of only two air worthy and flying B-29s left in the world, The other being the Silverplate B-29, Doc.
Fifi was parked in Boeing plaza, surrounded by other notable warbirds. She'll be flying at EAA this year, likely Friday and Saturday.

Oh it was, I still have some air show programs from back in the day. Was a member for a year in the 1990s. Everyone was a Colonel in rank. The name came from a bit of chalk graffiti on a couple of surplus warbirds at an airstrip in the 1960s. Someone wrote Confederate Air Force on the sides of a P51 and an F4U
Oh wow, it hasn't been called that in 24 years. It's a great organization, though. I got to fly their C-45 Twin Beech in the right seat once during a demo flight. Pilot and I got to chatting and he had me take the yoke and fly around the area for a bit. It's still one of my favorite memories as a pilot so far. "Bucket of Bolts" was at AirVenture this year and I got to stop by and say hello to an old friend.
Still too much $ to justify getting a ride in FiFi, however. Maybe someday.

I was at the Air And Space Museum in DC, and saw the Enola Gay.
It had a life-size model of "Little Boy" with it.
BTW, I saw a couple pages from the Confederate Air Force's "manual," in a book of Air Force cartoons called "There I was, Flat On My Back..."
They are rather funny.

Saw FiFi some years ago in Duluth MN. The tour there we took a ladder through into bomb-bay, through the pressure door and into the cockpit. Being an A&P I was actually how, well, small she looked to me. But seeing her and looking down the 'pressure tunnel' aft when I was inside I realized how much the plane was ahead of it's time when built and flying
Fifi has been at MBS International twice in the last two years. I wanted to do a photoshoot walkaround in fursuit, but couldn't get any interest.
First saw the B-29 up close in 1977 during the Selfridge ANGB Open House. Unfortunately, protestors dumped blood and ashes on her later that day.

There were a few Code Pink protesters at EAA, they were easy to spot. Then a Breast Cancer support team showed up with a Pink Czech L-39 promoting Breast Cancer research and the Code Pinkos got mistaken for them, upsetting them from their mission. I'm more shocked the Code Pinko's actually spent money to enter EAA grounds.
