I'm finally back on that character grind with another piece by the absolutely amazing Sinematyc on Instagram linked here https://www.instagram.com/sinematyc/?hl=en
The Vouivre was a creature from medieval france that was a dragon. That had the legs of an eagle, the wings of a bat, and the tail of a viper. But was often depicted as a young woman. And before you ask. Yes. I got the idea from SMT. However I did do a lot of personal research as well to make her more accurate. But for now I think it's time we learn a little bit about her~

Desiree was a shy girl. So easy to fluster that back in the middle ages the peasants used to believe she was afraid of naked people.shes gotten much better since then however it's never really faded. Still blushing and squirming at the sight of skin. She was grateful to move in with the mistress though. Being tasked with looking over the mountains of jewels and trinkets she had collected. Most dragons had an obsession with such things of course. And she was no exception. Especially thanks to her own personal jewel. The green gem she wore on her forehead or inside of other jewelry. Though to her it was much more than a gem. It was one of her eyes. And more than that. If anyone else were to get their hands on it. She would be forced to obey their commands. And lose all her magic powers until the gem was returned. She is very protective of it as a result. Only removing it from her person when she needs to see in more cramped spaces like under a couch. Despite her easy to fluster nature. She doesn't actually mind giving the gem to people she deeply trusts for a bit of fun~ as in that state she hopes to gain a little more confidence. A measure that has worked at least a little bit. Though it has also inadvertently given her a bit of a masochistic side. She works diligently as a treasurer. Keeping all the gems shiny and polished. And having some magical powers to assist with that. But of course if someone snuck up behind and took her gem. She would be powerless to stop them~

You know. While she was being created I was finally able to explain the reason I love writing my mythology characters and even to an extent why I love the artistic freedom of the artists who make them.
By doing all this. I've become part of a tradition that's existed since the very first story that humanity has ever told. One of the most fascinating things about folklore is how it changed over time. Each person who told the story adding their own details. And changing things slightly while still keeping the original tale alive. And. In a sense. I'm doing the same thing. I'm adding to these tales from people long ago. Who's imaginations live on forever in the hearts and minds of people to this day. And with that artistic freedom. So too are details added by another. Further changing and evolving these concepts from thousands of years ago.
If anyone is reading this little addendum. I encourage you to go out there and dive into mythology and folklore yourself. Hell. Maybe even use inspiration from the characters I've made. And continue the storytelling traditions that have been around since the dawn of stories. Anyway. I hope you all enjoyed~<3
