Rec couldn't believe his eyes. His absentminded walk through town had gotten interrupted by a sudden wall of muscle and slightly sweaty clothes replacing the air in front of his face and knocking him over. He had expected the worst when he looked up and saw a familiar termite-shaped silhouette looming above him, and his fear only multiplied with each additional one on either side. However...
"Oh, sorry there little guy! Didn't see you there!"
"Hey, you alright?"
"Sorry little dude, I'll be more careful!"
These termites weren't the one he knew. Despite looking nearly identical to Thermite, the one in the middle crouched down and offered a kind hand to the snake. Rec hesitated, feeling himself sink into the ground the slightest bit as his curse threatened to shrink him down right then and there, but the middle termite lifted his helmet back and gave him a concerned, kind look.
"Oh uh, am I doing something wrong? Sorry, I'm new here. I saw this pothole and some broken pipes and just had to fix it up, you know? Thought it would make a good impression!"
His voice--all their voices--were identical to Thermite's, but they spoke in a soft, candid way that felt completely different to him. Rec felt himself relaxing, and finally grabbed the middle termite's hand. He was nearly yanked up to his feet, not out of aggression but more enthusiasm from someone who didn't fully grasp their own strength. Looking past him, Rec noticed that the trio really was working on fixing The Pothole, the abandoned construction project that had been plaguing that sidewalk for years.
One of the termites had been carrying spare pipes--pipes that one would normally need a wheelbarrow or a dolly to move, and he carried three of them just in his arms--and, in seemingly one fluid motion, he laid them down all in the pit and welded them all in place. Rec couldn't help but let out an astonished "Whoa."
"Sorry, I don't normally take so long! I just saw this on the way to the concert hall so I've only got a few bodies and my pocket tools on me." By the time he had finished speaking that, the other two termites had done more work in that pit than it had gotten over half a decade. Then Rec perked up.
"Wait, concert hall?"
"Yeah! One of my aberrants is doing a boulder show tonight! Err, a cement musical? It had something to do with pink stones, I think." The termite had put his helmet back on, obscuring his face like the other two, but Rec could still tell he was going crosseyed underneath it.
"You mean a punk rock concert?"
"That's the one!" The termite snapped his fingers as if Rec had helped him finally solve a large equation. Rec would have balked at the idea that Thermite could be the slightest bit related to these guys, had it not been for the identical faces and bodytypes among them all. "Yeah, he's really into music stuff! I don't really get it myself, but I decided to go try seeing one of his concerts outside of the colony and wow, there's so much stuff to build and fix out here!" As if on cue, the other two termites gave enthusiastic thumbs ups from inside the pothole. "I saw him huge and romping around town the other day and he wrecked a bunch of buildings, so I'm going to rebuild them later today! I don't know how he made himself big like that; it's amazing what special effects can do these days!"
Rec let himself bathe in the man's refreshing mixture of gentleness and cluelessness. It washed over him, soothed him.
"Alright, finally finished!" The termite said that without even looking behind him, but sure enough the other two were stepping back from a whole, perfectly pothole-free sidewalk. "It was nice, uhh..." the termite pulled out a small booklet from his pocket, titled Interacting With Individuals and nervously flipped through the pages. "Oh! It was nice meeting you!" he lifted up his helmet again to wink at the snake. "Alright, onto the concert hall!"
"To the concert hall!" the other two cheered as the three went on their way. Rec could have pointed out that they didn't exchange names, but he didn't want to spoil their good mood. He watched them make their way down the street, only for his eyes to widen as they began to meet up with many, many more termite men pouring in from all around town.
Meet (basically) everyone else in Thermite's colony! While Thermite himself is independent, the rest of his colony are a hivemind, sharing a singular personality and able to communicate instantly through their antennae. They're big, they're dumb, but they're all very sweet and love building and fixing whatever they can get their master craftsmen hands on.

Gonna be Real, if Rec did accidently activated his shrinking curse and shrunk right in front of them, THOSE Termites would 100% for sure keep Rec safe while keeping him with them until Rec finally grow back.
I love this concept of one look alike another person and being totally different.
