Chatterbeak is an albino kenku warlock who is a member of The Radiant Deep, a nomadic seafaring cult. She has lived all her life growing up and learning in the cult, even taking up a passion and practice with firearms as a hobby.

One day, her coven's temple ship was attacked by pirates during a pilgrimage to one of their holy sites and was transporting Rhea Calmriver, the cult's high priestess with them. Despite Chatterbeak and the defenders' efforts, the pirates wiped out the coven with only Chatterbeak and Rhea being captured for ransom. Chatterbeak did not show fear in the face of the pirates and called out that they would die... and they would. The kenku heard a voice in her head call to her with a deal. "Serve me child of the oceans and I shall give you the power to slaughter those who stand a against you and your family"...

She accepted and for a brief moment, Chatterbeak could see the shadow of an ancient sea dragon devour her and then the next thing she knew, she was standing on the bloody deck of the temple ship, the corpses and remains of the pirates sprawled out across it. High Priestess was blown-back by such a display and asked her what happened. Chatterbeak explained the voice and Rhea replied that Chatterbeak has been chosen by a powerful being of the oceans and has been "touched by the depths"

Now Chatterbeak serves both her cult as a devout acolyte and the sea dragon she would soon know as "The Lorekeeper" as both a hunter of knowledge and a hunter of those who would challenge the might of the oceans
