Something postapocalyptic for tonight. This is my conbook entry for Califur 7. It's a matte-speed painting of the actual conlocation just with a couple of modifications.
I was quite inspired by Fallout 3. I admit that my heart bled when I destroyed that wonderful Kaiser Traveler Deluxe. x)
The textures are partially from my own resources and from CGtextures.com.
Thanks a lot for looking! <3

Yay! First thing I notice, is the Lynx =^.^= Not enough Lynx art in the fandom =^.^= I hope it gets conbook cover for the Lynx in it... But other than that little moment of squee on my part, its a well composed piece, has a very palpable feel to it. Its hard to get that much dark coloration to work well, and yet you bring out a lot of detail to it. Kudos =^.^=
Wow this is amazing.. i love it ^^
And what you did with the signs is awsome too.. btw.. that point of reunion sign in the center... gotta love those furrys there... just... perfect ^^
At a glance it does look like a rendered image ^^ you certantly do outstanding pics ^^
Thanks for sharing ^^

Oh my god, this is just beautiful! I am so horrified that they chose post-apoc for this year's theme, because there's no way I can get up there, and I doubt they'll ever use it again now they've done it once! Gah, I love post-apoc so much! XD
Brilliant picture, anyhow. Love everything about it. (Also, totally listening to Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" while looking at this. Didn't choose it, it came on at random. It felt appropriate)

*nods* I'm still quite fascinated what matte painters can do with resources/photos. I think matte painting nevertheless requires a lot of feeling and knowledge about how light and perspective works because in the end you fidle about it quite a lot. The background took me about 22 hours to paint. x3
Splendidly neat. Now where is that red button that says fave... ah yes there it is *smashes it*
Some reason the thought never passed me to use textures if I ever do digital painting. Now that I think about it I wonder just how foolish I was. Thanks for kicking my head back to the side of sanity ;)

If anything would fit better as a comment, than that this pic just reminds me of your inspirations, i don't know what to say then. The textures are well chosen and create exactly the same impressions, i get, when i wander the Capital Wasteland.
Great thing and a real win for the conbook!

This is so well done, as I'm sure everyone above me has stated. Your a genius. Makes me realize how awesome Matte paintings are. Wish I could paint at all. Fallout was one of my favorite series, for the content that is, didnt much care for bethsda's engines. Too blocky for me, dispite 200 + hours of gameplay. Always loved post apocalyptic seettings, Im actually on a hunt for a very specific type book that followees a group of maurauders after a a cataclysmic event, and that may even glorify survival of the fittest. PX lol all of this is pointless, good work,
