If you aim to put some level of biological accuracy to your artwork, then I guess it's too tick. It seems like her tongue could occupy her whole throat, so where the space for air to move in and out. Also the food and water.
Another Idea, if you just would like to draw big tongue then put it in foreshortening, so you can have the big tongue without braking much the possibly biological reality.
Lastly! It's an artwork, you can draw whatever you want!
