Asteri started up the ship's computer at the top of the modified ICBM. They had all called her crazy, but she doubted anyone was laughing now. She was now the only one on earth with a functioning rocket and the knowledge needed to destroy the out of control geo engineering system floating above her very head.
While the rocket awakened, she glanced out the open hatch at the empty observation room on the wall of the silo. Her mate had gone years ago, and the kits had followed him. She sacrificed any chance at being a good mother or even a good mate for this one shot. She just hoped they might one day forgive her, if she made it back.
She closed the fairing door, followed by the round hatch she had to specially modify to seal from the inside. She managed to shove her large ears into the helmet and lock it into her space suit with a click.
The computer dinged, showing all systems green. All she had to do was push that big red button, and she'd ether go to space, or just as likely die a fiery death. She hesitated, and yet she had come much too far to turn back now. She pressed the button and hoped her light body would save her ribs from the incoming g-forces.
A little doodle in relation to the Fallen Earth universe. This snippet predates the collapse that made way for the little ice age of land-ship piracy where foxes like Aliandria and Antitha made their names.
This image has a more rotund and naked prequel on my spicy account.
