In 2019 it was announced the the Isle of Wight Railway System, known as 'Island Line' would be having a major upgrade during 2020 - 2021. Due to the Covid Pandemic the upgrade was rescheduled for January 2021.
The upgrade would include new track, signals and infrastructure, and of cause new trains.

After 30 years the 1938 stock was becoming more problematic to maintain due to shortage of spares. it would be replace by the large 78 (D) stock used on the district line.

In October 2020 I decided to take one last trip along the line traveling on the 38 stock.
