This is my creepypasta story based on the popular character Vivian the Shadow Siren from Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door game.


(Story)


As a fan of those Nintendo Mario games; I would have to say that my favorite was the Paper Mario Thousand Year Door game, the original two first Paper mario games were always my favorite from the original 64 version to the Gamecube version. Recently the latest Paper Mario games over the years did not captured the magic as the two originals so I was very happy to know that they did a remake of the TTYD game for the Switch and cannot wait to get my own copy.


However even with today's digital purchases it was hard to get a copy because of the high demands for both psychical and digital copy. I was starting to think I was never going to get my hands on a copy, in desperation I went online to Amazon in hopes of finding a second hand copy, which of course I believe no one would ever part ways with the latest hot game trending.


I was going to call it quits until I could not believe my eyes but I did find a copy of the game. However this one was label "Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door; Vivian's Shadow!" I remember the game had a character named Vivian who is the most popular character from the game. I was even a big fan of her, I don't know why but there was something about her cute and simple character design just won my heart from her character background story and now with the reboot they kept the original Japanese concept of her being a Transgender character; in honesty if my Dad knew about this info back to the original he would never even let me go near the game. He was one of those whom grew up at different times and let's just say not a fan of the LGBT community.


However that did not stop me from getting this game despite his negative views in today's lifestyle. I ordered the copy. Few days later it arrived and I open it up. I was shocked, on the website it was supposed to be the Switch version but however it was a GameCube version with a paper taped "Vivian's Shadow" at first it looked like a normal copy of the original gamecube version but when I open the case there was a note inside the case with the disk. Inside the note read "Beware of Vivian's Shadow. She will never stop following you!" What made it even creepy that it was written in red lettering like it was blood but I just brush it off. I may not have the switch version but at least I can relive my Gamecube days with this one and thankfully I still had my old Gamecube console and it still works. Or at least I thought I was lucky at the time.


I popped in the game; it played like the original everything was normal. That is until I got to the part where Vivian and her sisters first made their appearance, Nothing was out of the ordinary but then I noticed something was off. Vivian did not leave the room with the other Shadow Sirens instead she just stood there, she apparently just floated in that same spot throughout the game, appearing in places she was not supposed to be, acting in scenes that she was not a part off, even in the battles she just stood there, there were even more Vivian's in the audience.


I figured that this game copy I got must have a huge glitch, it would also explained why on the website it was being sold for so cheap at $5. I went to turn off the gamecube so I could trash the game. However when I turn it off the game still remain playing, I turn off the TV but it turned itself back on and what's even more strange is that Vivian now seem to turn her attention towards my direction, her cute smile went from being cheerful and happy to sad and almost menacing. Then suddenly a word balloon appeared over her with words that says "Why do you hate me?" I knew that this can't be real but the more I tried to turn off the TV her image just kept getting bigger and bigger of her repeating "Why do you hate me? Why do you hate me?"


In a desperate move I went to unplugged the TV to turn it off. However to my horror the screen didn't turn off. Instead it just became a huge static with just the image of Vivian in the middle; only now she didn't look like her game version. Instead she now has dark black empty eyes with strange liquid flowing out from them; her mouth went from having cute yellow lips to a black dark hole, even her cute pink dots on her facial cheeks were gone it was like she became a dark depressing version of herself. I don't know what is going on or what is happening; I just stood there frozen in fear until I heard a loud thumping coming from the screen. She was pounding on the screen as if she is trying to get to me and she was shrieking "WHY DO YOU HATE ME?! WHY DO YOU HATE ME?! WHY! WHY! WHY!" then to my horror she phased through the screen, her long purple body sprawled from the TV and onto my living room floor; I tried to scream but I could not even utter a single word, I was too terrified to make a sound. I could not do anything I couldn't move, I couldn't speak I could only watch as Vivian came closer and closer. She grabbed my leg and hoisted herself up to my face and said to me "You're not the one who hates me!"


Then suddenly I woke up, I find myself still on the couch in the living room with the game still on only now it was back to normal. It was like the event didn't even happen. I quickly pop out the game and put it back in it's case. I took the game and threw it away in the trash bin thankfully it was garbage day and the garbage men took way the game along with the rest of the trash.


I decided to look more into why did Vivian from the game tried to attack me. I went online and did lot of info digging until I found out some dirt; apparently back in the early 2000's back to the gamecube days there was a developer for Paper Mario named Valerie Robinson; they say she was the inspiration for Vivian's design from her dyed pink hair, her love for cute and funny hats, but it also revealed that she was also a Transgender and according to the stories she was hated and berated at her work spaces from the other coworkers. In fact her community avoided her like she had covid back then; no one wanted anything to do with her because she was a Transgender and got lot of hateful comments and was harassed for it; sadly she met a horrible end in her life when one night some intruders broke into her house. She was attack by a couple of racist haters for the Transgenders and was put through horrible torture from being beaten, to having both of her eyes poked out; and sadly it never ended there as the intruders also set her house on fire and she was left to burn to death.


Thankfully the article mention the intruders were caught and was sentence to life in prison. However (for some reason) they somehow had a copy of the Paper Mario Game in their cell. Both men didn't have a Gamecube, or even a TV in their cell however they were both found dead, one however manage to write a note before he died with the worlds saying "Beware of Vivian's Shadows, she will never stop following you"


I now think I understand what is going on. Valerie took the form of Vivian since they were both shared the same type of problems with the people in their lives. Took her revenge on those who wrong her and her spirit is still seeking vengeance. I am writing this story to warn you if you happen to find a copy of Paper Mario TTYD game and it came with a note that says "Beware of Vivian's Shadow" whatever you do throw it away as quick as you can and never play it. Unlike me you might not be so lucky to survive.
