On another day, while Dione is coming home from her job as a marine biologist, looking forward to spending time with her husband, as she crosses a street without paying enough attention, she gets hit by a car, dying instantly from how inconveniently it did hit her.

So back in the library, Dione is taken aback for a bit by how abruptly that life ended. Persephone just shrugs to that, telling her: "Just go for the life where you did pay attention to the road at that occassion instead. Sometimes death comes unexpectedly, but this library allows you to get around that just fine." "Yeah, I know, it... just really caught me by surprise, the sudden way of it.", Dione admits.
While Dione is picking up the book for that life that has the difference of her not getting hit by a car at that point, the female anthro moth finally actually sees one of the bookshelves fading away, since this time it's nearby enough, of course immediately questioning: "What... What just happened there?" Persephone reacts: "Yeah, huh... this isn't supposed to happen, obviously. Look, you just keep reading the books, I'll investigate what's up with that myself. Even if time almost doesn't pass by at all for me while you're going through one of your lives."
Part 8 - Motherhood
(Now playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJjyvDd22fE)
Heart, Spade, Diamond, Club and Jolly get to a location made out of oversized playing cards. "Well, that is oddly appropriate...", Jolly remarks. "Family vibes!", Club exclaims, "That's what I'm getting here. Our family is named after playing cards after all. Even if... that family is just us and our mother." "A mother with five chilren...", Heart notes, "Sh-She is truly great for handling that all while being the loving mother that she is..." Diamonds nods to this, simply stating: "Agreed." "Our Queen.", Spade jokingly comments on this, since that's literally the name of their mother, "And no kitty-cat is gonna tear us apart, hehe."
While the five unicorn horned rabbits continue their way, Ace the Meowscarada is definitely getting impatient and furious at this point, so when he gets in their way yet again, he says, still talking as if this is all some show just to not be out of character for his persona: "Oh my beloved audience, you have been patient, but there is no need to wait anymore! All those tricks and obstacles, they all overcame it like it was nothing. Nothing, I say! Ladies and gentlemen, is this the point where the great meowgician with the awesome mechanical tail gives up? No! I am merely inclined to go full force now, hah!"
And just like he implied, no more simple obstacles and harmless tricks, much unlike all the indirect attempts to split them apart up until this point, Ace is now firing a beam of energy with his oversized wand, an attack seemingly enabled by how angry he is, which pushes all five of the siblings several dozen meters away from each other. But they get back together and are faced with him in their way again, with a very real possibility that he'll just fire that beam again as long as the amount of anger in his heart allows it. And so he does that again. But once more, they'll come back together. "Stay apart, god damnit!!", he furiously shouts, just repeating this action with the same result.
Finally, Club questions him on all this: "Ace, stop for a second and tell us... why? Why are you so set on splitting us apart?" "Yeah, we want to know already why you are doing this to us!", Diamond angrily yells at the Grass and Dark Type Pokémon opposing them. So after all those attempts, Ace reveals his actual motivation behind all this: "You wanna know why I want to tear you apart?? You want to know why I despise seeing you get along like this?? You god damn idiots, I'm JEALOUS! How come, huh?? How come you get to have each other??", his angry voice then turning into a pained voice, "H-How come... that I have to be all on my own?... You... don't even know what it's like... to lose all that's important to you... You always have each other... You always support each other... And maybe I don't even deserve what I envy you for...", his explanation for all this making him sound increasingly more desperate and deeply sad, with him unable to hold back his tears as he goes on, "I... I killed them... it's my fault... my brother and my parents... when one of my magic tricks went... h-horribly wrong... our house burned down and... I'm the only one to get out of it alive... so their deaths... are all on me... and then I look at you and... see your wonderful siblingship... see you having a loving mother to support you all and... I-I want that back... and I can't stand seeing you have it... I'm... I'm... I-I'm nothing but a villain to you, am I?... I surely am that to myself..."
The magician siblings understand. Of course, it's Club who reaches out first: "Ace... it's... it's not your fault, okay?" "How can you even say that?...", the self-blaming Meowscarada questions, "It was my magic trick going wrong that causes the fire and... killed everyone I loved..." "You never had any intention of it going this badly wrong though...", Club points out to him, "You truly never wanted this. And... you're not alone either. Sabotage us all you want, but... at the end of the day, all you want is to be part of a family again and... I think you deserve that with the pain you clearly went through to behave like this." "I'll never have what you guys have though...", Ace points out, wiping the tears off his face, "So I'm gonna be all alone... while you will always have each other..." That makes Diamond now bring up: "You know, you could... join us. Not that unusual of an idea, idiot." "Wait, what...", Ace is perplexed to hear that. Club looks at everyone else to make sure they all agree based on the looks they return, then turning to the bipedal feline: "Welcome to the club, pun intended, new brother.", opening her arms as a sign to be willing to embrace Ace despite his behavior towards them up to this point.
Ace hesitates at first, since he simply expected them to label him as the villain that he labeled himself as, but instead they treat him like one of their own, much to Ace's surprise. "I...", he struggles to even find anything to respond now. With words being too difficult for him to use at this point, he instead gives his response by going over to hug Club very tightly, her hugging him back welcomingly. Afterwards, Jolly brings up: "Now that you're properly listening to us too... There is something much, much bigger at stake here than our personal troubles.", before continuing to explain the whole thing with needing to get information to Dione because of the whole Cronus threat. "We've... got something to do then.", Ace states, since from this point onward, he is on the same side as the other magician siblings.

Now living a life where she did look while crossing the street, Dione's life with Charon continues, not getting cut short unexpectedly by getting hit by a car this time, as the female anthropomorphic Rosy Maple Moth gets home to her purple scaled reptilian husband with the two of them lovingly embracing, nosing and kissing each other as their overly affectionate greeting.
