Hee-Ho, howdy everyone! Today I touch a biiiiiit more on the "Darker" themes of the setting and illustrate parts of Hunter's journey in the Boars of War and as well as him going against the Matriarch. To catch people up who haven't really heard of Hunter's exploits in the past- This is basically Hunter finally climbing out of the ruins with all the scavenger love-bots and seeing the pure devastation. This art piece is meant to be more focused on the background and how absolutely hideous warfare actually looks. Spaceships bombard the planet, ruining everything it touches as the Matriarch's forces fight back. Hunter already knows what these folks are up against and by the time they nearly destroy the planet, it'll be too late, far too late, and the Matriarch's plan will already be finished. Without any hope of contacting the fleet, Hunter must venture fourth into this ruined hellscape and brave many of its hazards. All the while she hunts down the Matriarch and attempts to contact her mercenary crew for them to abandon the mission as soon as possible.
This planet used to be extremely lush and filled with vegetation, now? It's nothing but a toxic desert where hardly any biological life can thrive without proper protective gear. The entire art piece and what I wanted to get across is the tragedy of it all. Hence why it looks purposefully muddy, hideous, and a landscape torn open by artillery, leaving nothing left but ruins and metallic remains.
Thanks for reading folks, until next time!- I promise the next art piece will be waaaaay lighter in tone. Between this and the last kobold piece, I think I got something in mind as a palette cleanser.

Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.
