Looks similar to the "Rainbow bass" That Les Claypool uses. Not exactly but similar.

Speaking of finishes, I put polyurethane on the test body I was making (about 2 or 3 coats). I was trying to get a clean, spotless mirror shine to it, but it didn't come out that way (I haven't buffed it yet, gotta buy one). I'm not very familiar with finishes or sealants though..
