This is the sixth quartet of cards in my Pony Tarot Nouveau project, featuring the four "leisures" (of fin de siècle France) on atouts 12 to 15: Somnambula for dance, Rarity for shopping, Rainbow Dash for "open air" (the actual card shows hunting and fishing) and Photo Finish for visual arts, in that order.
Once again I had to agonise over the design of one of the cards. My initial vector of Somnambula featured questionable leg anatomy and it took some prodding from Sollace to rectify, while afterwards I had to make a suitable background for her but wanted to minimise any association with ancient Egypt – the Frenchman Antoine Court de Gébelin was the first to make the totally unfounded claim that tarot originated in that time and place rather than in Renaissance Italy. I eventually decided to give a nightclub-like background to atout 12.
