Once reached the Gloom stage of it's evolution this fragile creature develops a complex behaviour. Four glands on it's head and back will swell, providing a greenhouse-like environment with the right hormonal conditions and nutrients to assure the development of the healthy membranes (petals) that will take place on their next stage as a Vileplume. The eyes will shut down due to the weight of these swollen glands, and the gloom solely functions with their sense of smell. Attracted by the strong smell of these specific species of mushrooms they will head into the darkest part of the woods, producing the strange nectar similar to drool and with this the stench that is so characteristic of them.

Some witches take the substance from inside their glands to make a wide number of fragrance based potions and even empowering substances for battling pokemon, but messing with the processes going on inside will most likely mess the evolution, sometimes growing a damaged petal or affecting directly the health and strenght of their evolution. Witches were pursued due to their actions against humanity and pokemon without remorse, but sometimes confused about the differences, wiccans who used to revert the damages done, were also chased after.
