The large clamshell doors guarding the cargo bay aren't really for storage space, and function partly as loading ramps and partly as a massive airlock. With netting, you can store a little extra gear there, just as long as you don't care if its exposed to space or lack of inertial compensation and grav plating.

If a second jump3 is needed for various missions, the back 3/5 of the cargo (roughly - 85 Dtons) bay can be sectioned off with a collapsible fuel tank, leaving the front 65 Dtons of cargo still available for trade/supplies.
